Typography: Part Two

The second part to this typography assignment required us to create six A4 images of our assigned letters, except this time we were to experiment with tearing apart and manipulating the letter, using tag words like extend, cut, stretch, rip etc.

I originally wanted to use verbs that began with F to manipulate my images, as seen below.

During creating the images above, I was playing around with the letter in random ways and I really liked the outcome. This led to me abandoning the idea of using words beginning with F as the basis for the images.

So my final pieces were a mix of random experiments and a few of my favourites from the first set.

Below are a few of my favourite examples of my experiments.

Typography: Part One

This is an exercise to help us understand how to manipulate a particular letter while thinking of contrast, composition, negative space etc.

I was assigned the the letter "f" in lower case Bodoni Black.

We needed to create twelve examples 9cm by 9cm, hand drawn, then organize them into an order so that each example would work well with the last. Then we had to photocopy the final sheet to create one flattened image.

Here are my 12 examples.
